About the site

This is the official website of the communal institution “M. F. Sumtsov Kharkiv Historical Museum” of the Kharkiv Regional Council (5 Universytetska Street, 61003 Kharkiv; registry code EDRPOU 02226168). By using the site you agree to these terms.

Photographs of objects and 3D models

Unless a different licence is shown on the page of an object or an image, photographs of collection objects and 3D models are available under the CC BY 4.0 licence. The licence sets the terms of use — please read them at the link.

For some objects and images a different licence or a different author may be shown on their pages — what is shown there applies.

Texts, publications and videos

The texts of the pages, research publications, videos and other materials on the site are protected by copyright. You may quote them with a reference to the author and the source within the limits allowed by the Law of Ukraine “On Copyright and Related Rights”. Any other use needs the permission of the rights holder. The rights to research publications belong to their authors and publishers.

If you believe that any material infringes your rights, write to us at mail@museum.kh.ua and we will look into it.

External services and third-party material

The site includes material from other services. YouTube videos, virtual exhibitions and the Prozorro procurement list are loaded only after you press a button: until you do, nothing connects to those services. The map on the “Visit” page is loaded from OpenStreetMap as soon as the page opens, so that service sees your IP address.

Those services have their own terms and policies. The museum is not responsible for the content or operation of third-party sites that we link to.

Cookies and personal data

The site sets no cookies, shows no advertising, does not follow you to other sites and does not ask you to register.

We count visits with Umami, a program installed on the museum’s own server. It uses no cookies, does not store your IP address, builds no profiles of visitors and respects your browser’s “Do Not Track” setting. We see only summaries: which pages are opened, which sites visitors come from, from which country, with which browser and device. When a search on the site finds nothing, we keep the words of the query (with no information about you) so that we know what visitors look for and what is missing on the site.

Like any web server, the site’s server keeps technical logs of requests (IP address, time, page address, browser type). They are needed for security and for keeping the site running.

When you write or call us, we use your contact details only to reply, and we process them in accordance with the Law of Ukraine “On Personal Data Protection”.

If a news subscription or a form that collects data appears on the site, we will tell you at the moment of collection who collects the data, why, to whom it is passed and what your rights are.

Accuracy of information

Descriptions of collection objects and publications may contain inaccuracies or outdated information: some records come from the museum’s old databases and have not been fully reviewed. If you notice a mistake, write to us and we will correct it.
