Prayer Book

Printed in the early 19th century.

Printed in a single color, the text in Church Slavonic, set within a thin frame with ornamented corners. The pagination is numeric, at the top center of the pages. The book's decoration is complemented by full-page engravings (ten subjects), headpieces, and tailpieces.

At the beginning of the book is the table of contents, and at the end a menologion (calendar of saints' days). The cover is of stiff cardboard, covered in light-gray calico, decorated with stamping: on the front, an oval frame with floral motifs in the corners and a flowering cross at the center; on the back, an oval medallion with a floral border, set at the center of a frame of the same type.

Acquired by the museum from Valentyna Ivanivna Liubymova, a resident of the village of Kostieve, Valky district, Kharkiv region, in 1981.
