About the group
It is hard to imagine folk dress without footwear, which always completed the clothing and, like outer wear, was almost the same for men, women and children, differing only in size and decoration. The museum’s collection of folk footwear is quite varied and now numbers more than 30 pairs and several unpaired items. It includes women’s, men’s and children’s footwear, made mostly of leather, but there are also shoes woven from bark and thread, and made of mixed materials, for example wood and leather.
The collection of urban clothing of the late 19th and early 20th century includes separate costume items of townspeople of the district towns of Kharkiv Governorate: leather gloves, purses and waist belts.
