Description

Rushnyk made of homespun bleached linen canvas, embroidered with red and blue threads. The ornament is stylized floral-geometric and geometric. The ends are decorated with a vertically arranged 'tree of life' in the form of a large floral branch with 'roots' and various flowers and buds. On both sides of the top flower are two 'stars' in the form of a circle with seven rays, and above them are two 'stars' composed of triangles, each with eight rays. The composition is supplemented by scattered small geometric figures near the 'tree,' consisting of small rectangles joined in pairs or groups of three. The composition is framed on the sides and bottom by a garland with berries and tendrils between two serrated bands. The edges are hemmed with 'obmetytsia' and decorated with three tassels (missing). Legend: Part of the pre-war collection of the Museum of Sloboda Ukraine named after H.S. Skovoroda.
