The exhibits are in a safe place. An online version of this exhibition is in preparation.
It shows works by the well-known artist S. I. Vasylkivskyi that he donated to the Kharkiv museum, and bright samples of folk weaving collected in Sloboda Ukraine for the ethnographic exhibition of the 12th Archaeological Congress, held in Kharkiv in 1902. Paintings by Ye. H. Voloshynov, donated by his descendants, became an adornment of the museum’s collection and of this exhibition.
The museum owes interesting exhibits to the care of collector-patrons. In particular, S. H. Sobakar gave the museum works by P. O. Levchenko, Ye. H. Voloshynov and S. I. Vasylkivskyi, and O. B. Feldman enriched the museum’s holdings with a collection of documents from the late 19th and early 20th centuries and objects of the Trypillia culture.
The exhibition also presents a collection of distinctive yet traditional samovars, which became a symbol of hospitality in every home. A separate collection shows photographs by well-known Kharkiv art photographers and several remarkable pieces of photographic equipment, through whose lenses the past can be seen almost as if it were real.
