About the exhibition

Here you can learn about the outstanding scholar and public figure, member of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences Mykola Fedorovych Sumtsov. It was thanks to his care that on 21 January 1920 the H. S. Skovoroda Museum of Sloboda Ukraine was founded — one of the first museums of all-Ukrainian significance, which stood at the origins of museum work in the country.

The exhibition tells how the traditions laid down by M. F. Sumtsov were preserved, developed and revived in different times, and ensured the museum’s transformation into a centre of cultural communication in the region, the leading research and methodological centre of museum studies in Sloboda Ukraine and an important item on all the country’s tourist routes.
